Ah, Covalence. We basically stumbled across it -- it's a seriously powerful artifact. It seems clear that it should be used by a melee class, so there's been some debate between me and Malif about who should have it.

He thinks he should, so that he can be in combat without actually being at risk. This makes some sense, since he does a ton of damage in combat from all that flanking sneak attacking goodness, though he's also very effective with a bow.

On the other hand, I think I should, since it greatly improves combat effectiveness and I'm always in combat, unlike Malif. Further, even if I'm split with Covalence, both of me will benefit from being harder to hit and more resistant to damage.

Mostly, though, Malif's proposed use of it doesn't impress me that much. When he spawns a double, he plans for it to take two rounds for his other half to engage in melee, while he's using the bow with his original self. This seems ludicrous -- it's just wasting the abilities, if half the time he's doing what he'd be doing anyway. I guess he'd still be a meat shield, but just sitting there taking some damage doesn't seem to me to be what Covalence is all about.

Anyway, I'm going to try to convince the rest of the gang that we need to spend more time in the dream. So far we've gotten good stuff out of the dreams -- two powerful artifacts, some interesting information, an invitation to the elf forest, we've become better, stronger, faster, etc. Since the next thing we plan to do is to beard a Belar in his lair, I think we'll need all the help we can get.
