May 19:

What a night! Of course we leveled and had the dream again, but who could have imagined a better dream? Well, clearly I have had better ones before, but not involving a bunch of guys I hang around with. Not only do we get to kick ass, but I get to release months of frustration in a fully party approved manner! First I twang Malif within an inch of his life, then flank Errol and stick the big sword in his ass (I seem to do much more damage that way!). Next, the panzy Blink fights off my attempt to make him run for his life, and in return he gets the sword in his ass too! Then we as a party whack Kestral and who is left for last? VERNON! I don't remember for sure, but I like to think that I gave him a good whack too! Oh yeah, somewhere in there I had to take myself out, but that wasn't nearly as rewarding. Evil Vaugner was a badass too, just like his studly counterpart. Then, to make it all even better, I got a book of Dexterity and one of Experience too. Just like that, we are ready to train again! The others did it in the dream, but I will wait and see if Nicolai will visit soon. I am now ready to impress him with my skills and hopefully gain entrance to The Hand.

I think Vernon overheard Malif and I complaining about his reckless behavior. We tried to cover it up, but despite his seeming lack of wisdom on the road, I bet he sensed something. We need to make him understand that travelling in a party together requires the trust of each member to not endanger the others, or else the party does not function. If I were not restraining myself day in and day out about pilfering some of the stuff the other guys have, and I got caught (totally unbelieveable), that would be grounds for punting me out of the party. Vernon's actions at the cave and at other times are no less unacceptable, as he could endanger one or all of us by running off in a random direction at a bad moment. In the fights, he seems ok and always tries to do the right thing, which is all we can ask. I think there are three things we need to get him to agree to, and all will be better:

1) When we as a group are trying to figure out what to do, he cannot just unilaterally decide to do something and just go off and do it. Whether it is Tracking footprints in the night or going up to the town guard and telling him who we are looking for, those actions are to be decided as a group, and he should express his feelings to the group and his input will be taken as an equal member. He should think about how he would feel if I just casually backstabbed people we encounter while the group was discussing whether to talk to someone or attack them. If he is impatient about the endless discussion, he should state that to us, and perhaps that will spur us into making a decision more quickly.

2) If he cannot lie to someone, which is well within his rights as a person of the cloth, then he needs to be able to be quiet if we as a party decide that we cannot trust the people in question.

3) When in the dungeons or castles or whatever, LET THE THIEF OPEN THE DOORS AND CHESTS! I think he may have gotten this one after singeing all the hair off of him at Rillen's, but he needs to wait 15 seconds in some of those situations and I will happily take care of it for him. Maybe I should go around trying to healing people all the time to make my point. No wait, he doesn't do that either :)
