Maybe our special power is luck. We sure seem to have a ton of it.

We won the Tallo Hunt, not really to anybody's surprise. Except ours, maybe, though I certainly felt that we were likely to be the best team there. But it sure felt like luck.

We fell behind in the competition, and looked destined for second place, when we decided that we really needed to be able to get one big haul to catch up. So we went to a watering hole we'd found previously, and hoped to get lucky.

In one sense, this was good planning. We could only win by getting lucky and finding a big group at the watering hole, so we went there. We could have just hunted more in the forest and had no chance to win -- we put ourselves in a place where we could get lucky to win it.

But we still needed a bit of luck, and we got it. There was a veritable festival of animals, and we got them all despite the lone tiger deciding (correctly) to run for it. Still, we'll take it.

The prize was not really that large, but a free entry into a major event is probably worth a day's effort. It was nice to wander in the woods knowing that the only things we'd be fighting were animals. Well, and the occasional harpy, but who's counting?

But still, I wish we'd get on with this search for the gems of power. I really feel like we've been making no progress at all. Perhaps the party just needs a little more discipline -- we get really easily distracted. Well, not too much to do about that in the meantime.

I wonder what Jay's up to tonight?
