A close brush with death is pretty scary. We held off a band of maurading minotaurs, and it was pretty nasty. They set the town on fire, and destroyed its food supply. They also nearly took me out, but thankfully I survived. They took some losses, though -- out of their band of thirty, we killed 7 or 8.

But we did learn some things about the leader. He appears to be able to teleport at will, and according to rumor, he suddenly gained his tactical prowess a couple of years ago. We now think that he has a gem of power, which makes killing him part of our quest.

As I write this, we've just noticed a band of minotaurs heading for the nearest village. Now, it seems, we have to make a choice. We need to decide what our goal is here.

If we want to gain the gem and kill the leader, then we need to lay plans to defend the village, and hope to surprise him and kill him during the fight. He can teleport, but Malif can dimensional anchor him. I don't know if it will work, but I don't expect to see the leader until that day anyway, since there's no reason to walk when he can teleport.

But if we want to save the village, which I would like, then I think we should attack the band of minotaurs before they get there. Hit and run attacks, nothing that leaves us too exposed, but I bet we could kill some of them and do some damage to the rest. If nothing else, it may make them think twice about attacking the village, and might save it completely.

On the other hand, we're not really here to fight a war against the minotaurs, so I would understand if others in the party weren't interested in setting up ambushes. Still, helping the villages out really does seem like the right thing to do.

Besides, it sounds like fun to be the ones on offense this time.
